1. Register before you buy anything
UnlockTool activation is account-based. The license is applied to a username on UnlockTool.net, which means that username has to exist before the order can be fulfilled. Register first at the official site, log in once to confirm it works, and write the username down exactly as you typed it.

2. Work out whether you need a new activation or a renewal
This is the step people get wrong most often. Both variants cost the same for a given duration, but they run different processes on the server:
- New activation — the account has never held an UnlockTool license.
- Renewal — the account has been activated before, whether it is currently active or long expired.
Order the wrong one and delivery stalls until support corrects it. If you are unsure, ask before paying — checking takes a minute. See the breakdown on the pricing page.
3. Choose your duration
Three options: 3 months (90 days), 6 months (180 days) and 1 year (360 days). The feature set is identical across all of them — you are only buying time. The 1-year license has the lowest effective monthly cost, which is why full-time workshops tend to default to it.
4. Place the order carefully
At checkout you will be asked for your UnlockTool.net username, and usually the account email. Copy and paste the username. A single wrong character sends the activation to a non-existent account and the order goes into manual review.
You never need to give your account password to activate a license. If anyone asks for it, stop.
5. Wait for delivery
Normal delivery is 1–6 hours. Activation happens server-side on your account — you do not need the software open or even installed for it to apply. If you are outside that window, send your order number and username to support rather than placing a second order.
6. Install, log in, verify
Download the current setup from the official download page, install it as administrator with your antivirus exclusion in place, and sign in with the same account. The tool should show your license and its expiry date on the dashboard.
Common reasons activation fails
- Username typo — by far the most common. Paste, don't type.
- Wrong variant ordered — renewal on a never-activated account, or vice versa.
- Account not verified — registration was started but email confirmation never completed.
- Old software build — the license is fine, but an outdated client fails to authenticate. Update.
- Cracked build installed — repacked versions cannot authenticate at all. Reinstall the official setup.
After activation
Check your model against the supported models list before starting paid work for a customer, and skim the update log — support for specific chipsets and operations changes release to release.
